Gabriel Aramburu

Born in 1978, in Lima Peru, Gabriel began surfing at age 12 at Waikiki a surf club in Miraflores, Lima. His father was the first one to put him on a board. He played other sports, but when he began surfing, a passion for the sport grew within him.
Short Biography
At the age of 16 he competed in his first National Junior Title. He continued his quest for the title for the next two years. In the years following, Gabriel stopped competing to focus on school. In 2002 he started surfing contests again. He began competing for the Latin-American title in the ALAS circuit. In 2003 he competed in the Pan-American ISA surfing games. In 2005 he won a number of key invitational contests in Peru -- the "Herradura Quiksilver Pro" and the "El Paso Lost Pro". Also, that year he placed 2nd in the ALAS circuit. Furthermore, he placed 2nd in the ISA World surfing games. To begin 2007 he won the best tube ride in Billabong's "Tube Riders Invitational" in Cabo Blanco, he won the 'Best Tow Air" in Puta Rocas during the expression session (ALAS Circuit), and he won the "dark riders" expression session. For the remainder of 2007, Gabriel will be filming in Central America with friends for one of his sponsors, BARENA. In the coming years, he will continue to compete, but his focus will be on shooting and filming around the globe.
